As part of the Human Resources team, the associate director will take the lead on the Human Resources function in CFR’s Washington location, with a focus on recruitment, staffing, benefits administration, and employee events and training.This is an excellent opportunity to help build and develop an expanding staff as CFR moves into its new Washington location.
The principal responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):
* Manage the human resources function in Washington office, working closely with the director and deputy director of human resources in New York and the full human resources team
* Oversee the full-life cycle recruitment process for a wide range of regular and internship positions, including working directly with hiring managers, identifying recruitment sources, interviewing candidates, conducting reference checks, and making offers
* Provide strategic guidance to management in the Washington office on staffing issues
* Develop and support a collaborative workplace culture by organizing a wide array of training and staff events, such as a foreign policy lunch series, skills training workshops, health and wellness programs, brown bag lunches, and the holiday party
* Work with senior managers in Human Resources and in Washington operations on the development of policies, procedures, and workflow processes pertaining to the new Washington location
* Administer employee benefits programs, including conducting orientations for new Washington hires, working with employees on complex benefits questions such as FMLA, and rolling out the annual open enrollment process
Preferred Qualifications
* Several years related generalist human resources experience, including recruitment experience
* Degree in a related field with high academic achievement
* Proven interest in foreign policy strongly preferred
* Ability to work well independently and be a proactive and collaborative member of a team
* Excellent judgment and discretion; flexible and positive attitude
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities
* Excellent computer skills, including HRIS and Microsoft Office; experience with ADP a plus
* Periodic travel to New York required
