Description-

RAND is seeking highly motivated Research Project Associates to work on a variety of China related national security research projects as members of multi-disciplinary teams addressing complex policy problems. Examples of recent China projects include: the economic relations between Taiwan and mainland China; Party-Army relations in China; study of the China Air Force. Project Associates are expected to perform research support tasks under supervision of RAND researchers. They may provide both quantitative and qualitative support to research projects and carry out analytic tasks in their areas of expertise. Tasks may include: data assembly and analysis; monitoring and translation of foreign web sites and journals, literature reviews; phone and/or in-person interviews; and preparation of documents and presentations. In addition, Project Associates may have responsibilities for managing research project operations, including preparing and monitoring budgets, coordinating teams of researchers, managing project support staff, organizing conferences, and overseeing the production of final reports.

Qualifications

    * Educational requirements: MA/MS degree in China Studies, International Relations, Political Science or a related degree required, and at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
    * Language requirements: Proven advanced Chinese reading level (applicants selected for interview will be given a RAND-administered test).
    * Experience required: Research and analysis support experience in the Intelligence Community or in a research-oriented organization. Experience with project management, coordination, and/or budgeting helpful, but not required.
    * Specific technical skills required/preferred: Applicants must have active government security clearance. (CI polygraph preferred).
    * Minimum experience required: 3 years
