2 x SENIOR POLICY EXECUTIVES

The British Medical Association

The British Medical Association (BMA) is the doctors’ trade union and professional association with some 138,000 members. We are looking for 2 Senior Policy Executives to provide a professional secretariat service within the following areas:

• To work with our General Practitioners Committee, their negotiators, and their contracts and performance subcommittee

• OR within Public Health with the Armed Forces Committee and Private Practice Committee

These challenging and interesting roles involve:
• providing expert advice, guidance and support to the committee, its subcommittees and chairman; and
• communicating, representing and advocating the committee’s policies within the Association, to members and to external stakeholders

Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience of working in committee administration, knowledge of current NHS policy developments is essential. Experience of working in a membership organisation and/or in a public policy field is desirable.

The SPE role provides high level strategic and tactical advice, researching and drafting policy papers and guidance notes, overseeing preparation of meeting papers, and participating in policy and strategy development. High level liaison with external contacts is also required
