EGENIS PhD Studentship Opportunities 2008
EGENIS
Several three-year PhD studentship are available at Egenis, these include two ESRC centre linked studentships (3 or 1+3). Closing date for applications is 13 June 2008.
Egenis has a wide range of research interests with a particular focus on social and philosophical aspects of emerging areas of genomics, stem cell research, and postgenomic biosciences. Students will be part of a lively research community of interdisciplinary scholars and will have many opportunities for discussion and interaction with a group of researchers and postgraduates who are interested in similar issues.
We are seeking to recruit students with a good undergraduate or Masters degree who have interests in any of our research areas (for details of current research see www.centres.ex.ac.uk/egenis/research/index.htm) and would particularly welcome proposals on the following topics:
* The interface between genomics and health and its social meaning and implications
* Governance and genomics, in areas ranging from identity and social control to agricultural applications of genomic technologies
* History and philosophy of genomics and related scientific and technological fields
