Analyst / Senior Analyst - GIS focus Ministry of Social Development Wellington, Full time Closing Date: 16/05/2008 05:00pm Ministry of Social Development * Variety and a mix of technical and non-technical work * High visibility work - internally and externally The Ministry of Social Development is seeking an Analyst or Senior Analyst with special interest and skills in GIS to join their Information Analysis and Monitoring Team. This is not purely a technical role - although you will need technical and programming skills in this area. You will also provide consultancy services to non-users - explaining to them how GIS displays could be used to illustrate their work. A good understanding of how the technical application can help identify and display social trends and patterns for different locations would help you do this. You are most likely to come from a geography background and may have SAS programming experience - although training in this area if you have other programming experience is available. You will be looking for a varied position where your commitment to getting it right will shine - as your work will have high visibility both within the Ministry and in the wider social development arena. At the senior level you will be able to lead and drive work, manage complex projects, judge appropriate approaches to different issues, provide expert consultancy and advice and take a lead role in the analytical process.
