Long-term posts and short-term assignments

UNICEF is recruiting economic and social policy specialists to fill long-term posts in its headquarters and country and regional offices, as well as short-term consultancy assignments. Successful candidates will work with governments and other partners in the design and implementation of social and economic policies to accelerate achievement of the MDGs and child rights.

Key Areas of Policy Work

Key areas of policy work include child poverty and poverty reduction strategies, budget policy and public expenditure on services for children, social protection (sustainable systems including also child benefits and other forms of cash transfers), institutional reforms and decentralization, and migration- including how these impact children, women and families.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will be familiar with budget systems and fiscal policy, poverty and welfare indicators, quantitative analysis of household survey data, and analysis of institutions. They will understand the development finance environment, be able to distill academic research results into user-friendly policy briefs for governments and development partners; and have experience managing and working in teams.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in Economics, Public Policy or a related Social Science discipline and minimum 5 years relevant experience; excellent writing and communication skills; English proficiency required, and other UN language highly desirable.
