Health Care Program Legal Internship (graduate and law students)
National Partnership for Women & Families
Job Code: B27446
Location: USA – Washington, DC
The National Partnership for Women & Families promotes fairness in the workplace, reproductive health and rights, access to quality affordable health care, and policies that help women and men meet the dual demands of work and family. We believe that actions speak louder than words, and for four decades we have fought for every major policy advance that has helped women and families.
The National Partnership seeks a Legal Intern to support our health policy programs. Our health policy team works closely with Congress and the Executive Branch to advance progressive health policy priorities, including Affordable Care Act implementation, insurance market reform, and promotion of new models of care delivery and health care financing.
The Legal Intern’s duties will include researching and analyzing legal and policy matters; drafting briefs/memoranda, reports, talking points, fact sheets, and other written materials; tracking federal health legislation; attending meetings, hearings, and briefings; and monitoring federal and state court litigation. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend coalition meetings and briefings, hearings, and other events on Capitol Hill and in other venues around town.
Qualifications include excellent research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative; and the ability to work independently.
The internship is unpaid but is available for course credit and may be full-time or part-time. Full-time candidates preferred.
The National Partnership is committed to equal employment opportunity. We value and encourage diversity and solicit applications from all qualified applicants without regard to gender, race, color, national origin, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status or any other factor protected by law.
