- Fundraising and Events Intern, USA
About the Organization:
LetUSLead is a non-partisan, state-based (FL & GA), Political Action Committee. We are a fundraising committee focused on electing champions of Social Emotional Learning to state and local office. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) teaches self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. Our candidates support implementation of SEL in K-12 Public Schools.
LetUSLead believes that SEL is the missing piece in public education. Plummeting statistics on student mental health, underemployment, and workforce-readiness challenge us to rethink how we prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. Comprehensive SEL in complement to fundamental academics is the missing piece, but without a seat at the table, the true potential of SEL implementation is being overlooked.
LetUSLead provides the campaign resources to committed candidates in a proactive effort to make SEL legislation and funding a policy priority.
LetUSLead is seeking applicants for 2018 Spring & Summer Internships.
The Fundraising and Events Intern will be responsible directly to the Executive Director for maintaining the donor database, facilitating donor stewardship, support staff in event planning, day-of coordination, and event follow-up. This is a fabulous opportunity to work in a political start-up environment, learn about PAC management, while providing critical support to the organization.
Our organization is based in Southeast Coastal, GA – but we operate almost entirely on a remote basis except for on the ground fundraising and community education events. As such, out of three internship positions, the Fundraising and Events intern is the only local position. We are seeking interns local to Glynn County, GA due to a need for availability prior to and during events as well as a belief in relationship fundraising. However, you will need the ability to work remotely on a day to day basis from a computer with a reliable internet connection.
Support local fundraising advisory panels in event planning
Help with event logistics (emails, invitations, venue research etc.)
Track event RSVPs and registration for all events
On-site/day-of event support
Collect data on membership and giving
Provide general staff support for fundraising (Donor database, and stewardship)
Provide organizational support as requested or necessary.
This is a great role for an undergraduate student, recent graduate, or graduate student to apply their event management and fundraising skills to effect change in public education. If you are self-motivated, detail-oriented, enthusiastic about learning, and outgoing then this is your gig!
Interest in political management, campaigns, political fundraising, and public education (Please remember, we are non-partisan and only focus on State and Local Elections in GA and FL for 2018.)
Possess strong interpersonal skills, outgoing with ability to communicate in-personal or over the phone with a wide variety of people (from donors, to candidates, to educators) with ease and confidence.
Exceptional organization, time management, and logistical skills
Excellent written communication skills
Ability to take direction, work independently (prioritize, meet deadlines)
A demonstrated desire to jump in where needed
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
Experience with fundraising or event planning a plus.
This is our ONLY local to Glynn County and the Golden Isles internship. If you are able to work remotely on a daily basis, but can be available for local meetings and events this job is for you!
Compensation: While unpaid, we can promise a chance to work directly with the founders of LetUSLead daily (including the Executive Director and Board members), shape a new and unique political organization, work with legislators and their staff, attend fundraising events with major donors and young professionals, and learn from political managers, fundraisers, and educators all dedicated to beating the next skills gap. We strongly encourage interns to apply for course credit and will strive to facilitate an educational and rewarding experience.
