Reproductive Health Legal Internship (law students)
National Partnership for Women & Families
Job Code: B28026
Location: USA – Washington, D.C
At the National Partnership for Women & Families, we believe that actions speak louder than words, and for more than four decades we have fought for every major policy advance that has helped women and families. Today, we promote reproductive health and rights, quality health care, fairness in the workplace, and policies that help women and men manage the dual demands of work and family. Founded in 1971 as the Women's Legal Defense Fund, the National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization located in Washington, D.C.
The National Partnership seeks a legal intern for our reproductive health program, which works at both the federal and state levels to defeat attacks on reproductive rights and advance a proactive agenda to increase meaningful access to high-quality, affordable abortion care and other reproductive health services. We collaborate with the National Partnership’s health policy and workplace teams to promote forward-looking policies that further women’s fundamental equality and economic security – from abortion access and birth control coverage to equal pay and paid family and medical leave.
The legal intern will contribute to all aspects of the National Partnership’s work on reproductive health, rights, and justice, including but not limited to: tracking and monitoring proposed legislation at the national, state and local levels; creating or contributing to fact sheets, blogs, and other public education materials and reports; researching new developments in reproductive health, rights, and justice issues; and assisting in coalition advocacy activities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent research ability, strong written and verbal communications skills, commitment to reproductive health, rights, and justice, ability to work independently, and attention to detail. Candidates should be pursuing a J.D. degree. The internship is unpaid, but is available for course credit and may be full-time or part-time.
The National Partnership is committed to equal employment opportunity. We value and encourage diversity and solicit applications from all qualified applicants without regard to gender, race, color, national origin, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status or any other factor protected by law. Please see "EEO is the Law" for more information on Equal Employment Opportunities.
